Social networking is one of the options you have in internet marketing. It can be used to find new consumers, advertise your site for free, and many other options. Website owners have been using things like Twitter, Skype, and even BaseCamp to promote their business. It is a way to talk about themselves and their company for anyone who might be interested. There are certain rules that must be followed when it comes to these types of social networking sites, but nonetheless they can be helpful tools.
Google is about to launch a new programme which can over take Twitter, Skype and BaseCamp. It is going to be called Google Wave. Currently it is in the testing phase where some developers are able to access it, but for the rest of us we will have to wait. Basically the programme is going to allow microblogging, instant messaging, project management, and email all in one interface. What’s more is that you will be able to have a little wiki and social networking function within the programme.
Any time you enter or start a conversation on Waves it will be in real time. This means others can watch what you type character by character. Since the conversations are shared others can edit, delete, or add notes to a conversation that is ongoing. While this could call for abuse of lesser users, hopefully Google will see fit to ensure a clean programme.
Wave as it is in the development stage is probably going to have more applications to work with it. While this may not seem like a top SEO tool it could be. Since you are in real time you can begin a conversation on just about anything and have it tied in to your site. At the moment the rules are unclear as to whether you can "advertise" per se, but like any other tool online since you can start a conversation and have it streamlined you should be able to get some benefit from it regarding SEO. After all you will need to have an online profile that allows others to know who you are. So this means you can talk about your site or perhaps just give a tutorial on your products without being blatant regarding the advertising. We will have to wait and see once the product is live as to what can really be done with it.
